On May 1, 1997 in Dnipropetrovsk began working retro tram on the route "Center - Rialway Station." This event was timed to the 100th anniversary of the launch of the first tram line in Dnipropetrovsk. Tram line in Dnipropetrovsk (formerly Ekaterinoslav) was opened June 26, 1897 with six trams produced in Germany with a track width of 1 meter and a length of 6.1 km.

Each year keeping the tradition from early May to mid-September in Dnipropetrovsk on the route operates retro tram of opened type which transformed from the tram model KTM-2. To ensure the safety of passengers equipped with special tram handrails.

KTM-2 - is USSR (Soviet Union) motorized two-axle tram with a metal body. Prototypes were made in 1957 but production was carried out from 1958 to 1969 prior to serial production models of trams KTM 5. Were built around 3000 trams.
